| Pinciple: | This rat ALCAM ELISA Kit is based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from mouse specific for ALCAM has been pre-coated onto 96-well plates. Standards and test samples are added to the wells. A biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific forALCAM is added, followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. An Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex is added and the unbound conjugates are washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate (TMB) is used to visualize the HRP enzymatic reaction. The HRP-TMB reaction initially produces a blue color that changes yellow upon adding the acidic stop solution. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the amount of rat ALCAM within the sample that is captured by the plate. |

The protein encoded by this gene functions to inhibit WNT proteins, which are extracellular signaling molecules that play a role in embryonic development. Additionally, this protein contains a WNT inhibitory factor (WIF) domain and five epidermal growth factor (EGF) - like domains, and is thought to be involved in mesoderm segmentation. This gene functions as a tumor suppressor gene, and has been found to be epigenetically silenced in various cancers. |
