Possible 300 Million Year Earlier Origin For Life

The earliest evidence of life, until, now provides evidence for life form 3.8 BYA. That estimate may need to shift 300 million years earlier. After examining more than 10,000 zircons (hard minerals generated in magma) formed more than 4 BYA in Western Australia (famous for its archean studies), geochemists from UCLA have found evidence of biogenically derived carbon, i.e. life, dating to 4.1 BYA.
