Antivirals From Bananas
Oct-26-2015 0 comments Cube Biosystems
BanLec, or Banana Lectin, has antiviral properties and has been shown to prevent the AIDS virus from entering cells. Unfortunately, native BanLec also causes significant inflammation and irritation. Now, a new engineered version of BanLec, H84T, retains its antiviral properties, an minimizes the potential nasty side effects ... at least in mice. H84T was shown to be effective agains AIDS, hepatitis C and influenza without causing inflammation.
