We saw what is below from the Smart People at How Stuff Works.

Well, it got us to thinking about some of the lab tools we couldn't have lived without.  For example:

• The Computer: Biology is a technologically driven field. So, in a day and age where data sets are up to terabytes in size, computers to store & analyze your data are essential.
• Mechanical Pipettes (e.g. Rainin, Eppendorf, FinPipette, etc): Having to aliquot 1ul, accurately, by manual means is not an easy thing to do.
• Spin Columns: Click Here to see our Tribute to Spin Columns, but in all seriousness, spin columns allowed a dramatic increase in throughput.
• Taq Polymerase & PCR: The ability to amplify DNA by leveraging the thermostable properties of Taq Polymerase opened up new vistas and continues to be an integral part of many processes.
• Deionized Water Systems: There is a reason why tap water is not used in any critical solutions.
